Kharg Island is famous because most of Iran`s crude is exported from there. Kharg has a small indigenous population. Additionally the Island hosts thousands of people who work on the island`s oil facilities and its surrounding oil platforms. But this sensitive part of Iran has another side to it next to energy supply. The island has its unique natural and historic places which are very much unknown even to the majority of Iranians. The reason is due to the travel restrictions for non Islanders and unauthorized individuals due to the strategic importance and safety precautions. In this feature we have looked into some of the mesmerizing natural and historical places on the island to see a Kharg without its oil facilities.
