- He captained the Iranian national team to second place in Asian FIFA rankings (over-taking South Korea and Australia).

- He accompanied Esteghlal to first place in the Persian Gulf League.

- He accompanied Esteghlal to the semi-finals of the Hazfi Cup (losing in penalties to the eventual champions, Sepahan).

- He accompanied Esteghlal to first place in the group stages of the Asian Champions League (in the west-Asian "Group Of Death").

- He accompanied Esteghlal to the semi-finals of the Asian Champions League.

With all due respect to Zheng Zhi - he only won a worthless "Asian Champions League", will watch the World Cup at home and maybe will even miss the Asian Cup if China loses their last match.
