Saveh is one Iran’s most ancient cities that dates back to the Sassanid era. In ancient scriptures, it has been referred to as Saavakineh and it was one of the main hubs of the Persian empire. Although it was severely damaged by the Mongol invasion in the 13th century; it was later restored and became one of Iran most prominent cities under the Safavids. But eventually Saveh lost much of its importance when Tehran became the official capital of Iran. There are many historical monuments remaining in the city and its outskirts from its days of glory. And in this report, we will be taking a quick look at some of the most prominent historical sites of Saveh.
