There is no inversion in reported questions. There is no question mark either, and no 'do'/'did'. Again, reported questions 'go back one tense':

"Where have you been?" - I asked her where she had been.

We use 'if' to report a yes/no question (we can also use 'whether'):

"Do you know what time it is?" - I asked her if she knew what time it was.
