5 kilometres from the city of Abdaanaan in the Western Province of Ilaam, clothed by nature’s green attire, a lone relic of the Sassanian era beckons. Just by looking at the Posht-Qaleh Castle, flanked by the Kabir Kooh and Dinaar Kooh mountains, and watered by the seasonal river of Do-Iraj, you can guess why it was built here and the attraction this prosperous land must have had for the Sassanians.
The Siyah-Gaav twin lakes are a well known and popular attraction of the county of Aabdaanaan and of course the province of Ilaam. They are semi-circular in shape and are connected to each other through a shallow stream. Their water comes from natural springs that are located at the depths of each lake, of course seasonal rains also contribute to their volume.
