Eshtehard is the center of Eshtehard city in Alborz province and is one of the ancient cities of Iran, which is located at 50.3722 east longitude and 35.7208 north latitude. It is about 122 km away from Tehran and about 88 km away from Karaj. The city is located in an area with a semi-arid climate. It covers an area of ​​more than 800 square kilometers and is located on the road from Tehran to the western provinces of Iran. It is bounded on the north by Halaghe Dareh and Nazarabad counties, on the south by Ghezelbash and Mallard heights, on the east by Shoor river and Karaj, and on the west by Buin Zahra. The municipality of this city was established in 1331.

اشتهارد مرکز شهرستان اشتهارد استان البرز و از شهرهای باستانی ایران است که در ۵۰٫۳۷۲۲ طول شرقی و ۳۵٫۷۲۰۸ عرض شمالی قرار دارد. با شهر تهران حدود ۱۲۲ کیلومتر و با شهر کرج حدود ۸۸ کیلومتر فاصله دارد. این شهر در یک منطقه با آب و هوای نیمه خشک واقع شده‌است. مساحت آن متجاوز از ۸۰۰ کیلومتر مربع و در مسیر جاده تهران به استان‌های غربی ایران واقع است. از طرف شمال به ارتفاعات حلقه‌دره و محدوده شهرستان نظرآباد و از طرف جنوب به ارتفاعات «قزل‌باش» و محدودهٔ شهر ملارد و از طرف شرق به رودخانهٔ شور و محدوده شهر کرج و از طرف غرب به محدوده شهر بوئین زهرا محدود می‌شود. شهرداری این شهر در سال ۱۳۳۱ تأسیس شده‌است.
