The land of Sistaan, known from days of old as “Nimrooz” or half-a-day, has a deeply rooted connection to astronomy. The name of this desert plateau was derived from an ancient belief that the “Nimrooz” line or the prime meridian passed through it. What caught our attention more than anything else in Sistaan & Baluchestaan’s region of Hozdaar, which is 60 kilometres away from the ancient city of Zaabol, was the huge mass of historic and ancient ruins.
