Savalan or Sablan, with a height of 4811 meters above sea level, is the third highest mountain in Iran, located in the northwest of the country in Ardabil province.
Sablan is considered one of the 1515 most prominent peaks in the world after Damavand and Alam Kouh. Sablan is a semi-active volcanic mountain that is in the fumerolio stage and there is a small lake on top of its peak. Sablan is popular with tourists because of the natural spas on the mountainside, beautiful summer nature and Alvares ski resort. Some Zoroastrians consider Sabalan to be the place of Zarathustra's birth. An example of it can be seen in Nietzsche's book "Thus Said Zarathustra", which mentions Zarathustra's descent from Mount Sablan, and in this sense, it is a sacred and respected place that even the natives and nomads of the region swear by its name. Another conjecture about the name Savalan is that in Turkish, sav means ransom and alan means receiver, and the combination of these two words creates the tax collector, who collects snow from the clouds as a ransom due to his high altitude.

ساوالان یا سبلان با ۴۸۱۱ متر بلندی از سطح دریا، سومین کوه بلند ایران است که در شمال غرب کشور و در استان اردبیل قرار دارد.
سبلان پس از دماوند و علم کوه و یکی از ۱۵۱۵ قله بسیار برجستهٔ جهان به‌شمار می‌رود. سبلان یک کوه آتشفشانی نیمه فعال است که در مرحلهٔ فومرولیو بوده و در بالای قله آن دریاچه کوچکی قرار دارد. سبلان به خاطر آبگرم‌های طبیعی دامنه کوه، طبیعت تابستانی زیبا و پیست اسکی آلوارس مورد توجه گردشگران است. همچنین برخی کوه سبلان را محل بعثت زرتشت دانسته اند.برخی زرتشتیان سبلان را محل بعثت (زرتشت) می‌دانند. نمونه‌ای از آن در کتاب چنین گفت زرتشت، اثر نیچه، مشاهده می‌شود که به پایین آمدن زرتشت از کوه سبلان اشاره کرده‌است و از این نظر مکانی مقدس و مورد احترام است که حتی در میان بومیان و عشایر منطقه به نام آن قسم یاد می‌شود.و یکی دیگر از گمانه هایی که در مورد نام ساوالان وجود دارد این است که در زبان ترکی ساو یعنی باج و الان یعنی گیرنده و ترکیب این دو واژه باجگیر را میسازد که به دلیل ارتفاع بلندش از ابر ها برف را به عنوان باج میگیرد.
