Meet Iran - Exploring Iran in Two Minutes

Iran, formerly Persia, can be considered part of the Middle East or Central Asia; indeed the Persian Empire was the dominant Central Asian power for many centuries.

The wellspring of one of the world's great civilizations, Iran is a country of striking natural beauty and gorgeous tiled mosques. Its landscape is incredibly varied, requiring a lot of time to explore the country from its fabulous deserts in Central Iran to the magnificent jungles in the north, and the Tremendous Islands in the south.

Hormuz Island: Also spelled Hormoz, is an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf. Located in the Strait of Hormuz, 8 kilometers (5 mi) off the Iranian coast, the island is part of Hormozgan Province.

Rostamabad: Is a city in the Central District of Rudbar County, in Gilan Province, northern Iran. It is located on the Sefīd-Rūd river in the Alborz mountain range.

Chalus Road: Road 59, also known as the Chalous Road or Kandovan Road, is an important road for people of Tehran, many of whom drive to popular tourist attractions in the north of Iran. There is a tunnel on this road name Kandovan.

Lake of Ghosts: The lake of Ghosts (Mamraz Lake) is an Iranian lake located 2 kilometers (1.2 mi) from Nowshahr, near the village of Vanush. The local name for this lake is hornbeam but because of the lake's marshland and also the presence of broken trees that are often covered in fog, it is best known as 'Ghost Lake' or 'Lake of Ghosts'.

Dorfak: Is actually the name of a 2731meters peak in the south of Guilan province in the north of Iran. There are ways to reach the peak: a long hike and via off-road car. Stepping out to reach the peak and its surrounding face you with Dorfak indigenous people and amazing natural sceneries.

Takht-e Soleymān: Is an archaeological site in West Azarbaijan, Iran from the Sasanian Empire. It lies midway between Urmia and Hamadan, very near the present-day town of Takab, and 400 km west of Tehran.

Mount Soleymān-Prison: Takht-e Soleymān got its biblical name after the Arab invasion of Iran in the 7th century. Folk legend relates that King Solomon used to imprison monsters inside a nearby 100 m deep crater which is called Zendan-e Soleyman "Prison of Solomon".
