Ramsar is the westernmost county and city in Mazandaran. It borders the Caspian Sea to the north, Gilan province to the west, Qazvin Province to the south, and Tonekabon to the east.

Possibly the most scenic spot on the Caspian coast, Ramsar is where the jungle-clad lower ridges of the snow-topped Alborz tumble into the sea. It's a verdant, photogenic area, lush with orange groves, and there are walking trails into the nearby hills.

Time seems to move more slowly here (especially once you leave the highway), and the town and its hinterland make a nice place to kick back for a few days, especially in spring and autumn. If you want to escape the humidity, consider a day trip to the mountain village of Javaherdeh.

Javaherdeh is a summer quarter, located 27 kilometers from Ramsar and at an altitude of 1800 meters above the sea level. The access to Javaherdeh is from the west end of the city of Ramsar, by passing through the wooded mountains and along the river of Safaroud. Javaherdeh village is welcomed by the tourists in summer due to its cool weather and accommodation facilities.

The historical village of Javaherdeh is a green area with forests and is covered with snow for half of the year. This area with its pleasant weather and wonderful landscapes is the masterpiece of nature and the turquoise of Alborz Mountains. In addition to its natural beauty and abundant springs, it has a long history and its archaeological cemeteries are the evidence for this claim.

Due to its snowy mountains and abundant rains, Ramsar has several beautiful and spectacular waterfalls with nice and natural landscapes. There are many steep slopes and rivers in the wild mountains of Ramsar which formed large and small waterfalls. Except for one or two waterfalls which are located on the road of Javaherdeh, the rest are in remote areas that most people are unaware of them. These waterfalls have wonderful and magnificent environments in all seasons of the year.

وجود قله‌های مخروطی شکل با پوشش انبوه گیاهان متنوع، باغ‌های مرکبات، چای، مزرعه‌های برنج، برخورداری از ساحل زیبا، منطقه‌های ییلاقی خوش آب و هوا، منابع فراوان آب‌های گرم معدنی، وجود فرودگاه و هتل‌های قدیم و جدید، این شهر را به یکی از شهرهای منحصربه‌فرد تبدیل کرده‌است.

وجود آب‌های گرم معدنی در نزدیکی ساحل دریا، چند وان و استخر آب گرم معدنی در شهرهای کتالم و سادات شهر، بوستان جنگلی صفارود در میان دره، روستای جواهرده در ارتفاع ۱۸۰۰ متری سطح دریا، قله مخروطی شکل مارکو و جداشده از سلسله کوه‌های البرز در شرق رامسر، چشمه دمکش در دهستان اوشیان و شرق رامسر، جنگل دالخانی در مسیر رامسر به تنکابن، کاخ موزه تماشاگه خزر نزدیک هتل بزرگ رامسر، سرولات در شرق رامسر و ده‌ها اثر تاریخی و دیدنی، سبب شده‌است که سالانه هزاران مسافر و گردشگر داخلی و خارجی از رامسر، عروس شهرهای ایران، دیدن کنند. همچنین رامسر یکی از نزدیک‌ترین فواصل میان کوه و دریا را داراست که این ویژگی بر جذابیت رامسر افزوده‌است.

رامسر در غرب مازندران با برخورداری از جاذبه‌های منحصربه‌فرد طبیعی و تاریخی یکی از مناطق برتر کشور به لحاظ طبیعت گردی محسوب می‌شوند که سالانه پذیرای بیش از ۱۰میلیون مسافر و گردشگر از داخل و خارج کشور است. وجود آبشارها، آب‌های سرد و گرم معدنی، بوستان‌های جنگلی، غارها، چشمه‌ها، دریاچه، یادمان‌های تاریخی، صدها مراکز اقامتی و پذیرایی و تفریحی و به ویژه نزدیکی کوه، دریا و جنگل این منطقه را به عنوان قطب مهم گردشگری در کشور و حتی جهان مطرح کرده‌است.
