ماسال شهری در استان گیلان ایران که در کنار کوه‌های تالش واقع شده‌است. مردم این شهر به زبان‌ تالشی سخن می‌گویند. معنی کلمه ماسال کوه وار یا کنار کوه یا دارای کوه است، که از کلماتی مانند مسال، مازال و… گرفته شده‌است.
شهر ماسال در کنار رودخانه خالکایی واقع است، که این رودخانه از قله مرتفع شاه‌معلم سرچشمه می‌گیرد پس از طی ۴۰ کیلومتر از درون شهر ماسال گذر می‌نماید.

Masal County is a county in Gilan Province in Iran. The capital of the county is Masal. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 47,648, in 12,328 families. The county is subdivided into two districts: the Central District and Shanderman District. The county has two cities: Masal and Bazar Jomeh.

Shanderman District (Persian: بخش شاندرمن‎) is a district (bakhsh) in Masal County, Gilan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 21,585, in 5,442 families.[1] The District has one city: Bazar Jomeh. The District has two rural districts (dehestan): Shanderman Rural District and Sheykh Neshin Rural District.

A handicraft, sometimes more precisely expressed as artisanal handicraft or handmade, is any of a wide variety of types of work where useful and decorative objects are made completely by hand or by using only simple tools. The term arts and crafts is also applied, especially in the United States and mostly to hobbyists' and children's output rather than items crafted for daily use, but this distinction is not formal, and the term is easily confused with the Arts and Crafts design movement, which is in fact as practical as it is aesthetic.
