Rasht is one of the unofficial metropolises of Iran, the capital of Gilan province in the north of Iran, and the center of Rasht city. Rasht is known as the city that always wakes up. This metropolis is also the most populous city in the north of Iran among the three provinces bordering the Caspian Sea and the largest and most populous Gilak city in the world, the largest settlement on the southern shores of the Caspian Sea. In the summer of 2013, Rasht was the third city visited by tourists in Iran.
Anzali Port, which was called Pahlavi Port before the 1357 Iranian revolution, is one of the most important tourist cities, one of the important economic centers and one of the sports hubs in Iran, and it is considered the center of Anzali city. Anzali port is the ninth most important port in Iran based on the amount of unloading and loading of goods in 2018. After the provincial capital (Rasht), Bandar Anzali is the most populous and largest city in Gilan province and one of the densest cities in Iran in terms of population density.

رَشْت یکی از کلان‌شهرهای غیررسمی ایران، مرکز استان گیلان در شمال ایران، و مرکز شهرستان رشت است. از رشت به عنوان شهر همیشه بیدار یاد می‌کنند. این کلانشهر همچنین پرجمعیت‌ترین شهر شمال ایران در بین سه استان حاشیهٔ دریای کاسپین و بزرگترین و پرجمعیت‌ترین شهر گیلک‌نشین جهان، بزرگترین سکونت گاه سواحل جنوبی دریای کاسپین محسوب می‌شود. در تابستان ۱۳۹۲، رشت سومین شهر بازدید شده توسط گردشگران در ایران بود.
بندر اَنزَلی که تا پیش از انقلاب ۱۳۵۷ ایران، بندر پهلوی نامیده می‌شد، یکی از مهم‌ترین شهرهای گردشگری، از مراکز مهم اقتصادی و یکی از قطب‌های ورزشی در ایران است، و مرکز شهرستان انزلی محسوب می‌شود. بندر انزلی براساس مقدار تخلیه و بارگیری کالاها در سال ۹۸، نهمین بندر مهم ایران است. شهر بندرانزلی پس از مرکز استان (رشت) پرجمعیت‌ترین و بزرگ‌ترین شهر استان گیلان و یکی از متراکم‌ترین شهرهای ایران از لحاظ تراکم جمعیت محسوب می‌شود.
