Pakistani Premier Zulfikar Ali Bhutto arriving at Izmir for tripartite talks between Pakistan, Iran and Turkey, where he is greeted by Turkish Premier Suleyman Demirel and officials. Also the Shah of Iran arriving and subsequent confference, where alks on economic cooperation between Turkey, Iran and Pakistan began. The heads of states of the three countries were meeting as the leaders of the regional cooperation for development, set up to promote closer economic links between them. on his arrival at Izmir on Wednesday (April 21st), the Shah Of Iran called for closer cooperation but indicated his oil-rich country was not willing to pay for it. Iran was recently forced to reduce the price of its crude oil.

lead in: iran, turkey and pakistan have agreed in principle to establish a free-trade zone over the next ten years.
the agreement was announced on friday (april 23), following a two-day summit meeting at the aegean port of izmir in turkey attended by the leaders of the three countries.
on that day, the shah of iran discussed the international oil situation with a upitn reporter, who asked him about the implications of his recent oil price decrease.

the decrease is nonsense because we were over the price of other countries of the persian gulf.
(reporter: it was just a readjustment.)
shah: of prices. in that part of the world. and now we have about equal prices. that's the only thing that's represented.
(reporter: so do you then see any early increase in prices?)
shah: the main question in that field is ... that the price of oil should be equal to the price of other sources of energy which are exploited or which will be exploited because otherwise the world will continue to base its energy on oil and do nothing about developing other sources and in twenty-five thirty years time that source of energy will be depleted and finished and then we shall face a terrible crisis which will be a calamity to the whole world.
