Shahrak Darya neighborhood is located in the south of District 21 of Tehran Municipality. This town reaches Yas Boulevard from the north and from there it is adjacent to the western Tehransar neighborhood. This neighborhood reaches Fatah Highway (old Karaj road) from the south.

In the east of Morvarid Street, Darya town separates from Tehransar neighborhood and in the west of Azadegan highway (belt) is located between Darya town and Dr. Obidi Esteghlal town neighborhood.

The existence of a traffic center in this neighborhood, along with the observance of urban planning style in this town, which is reflected in the street layout and the way of separating the units, the width of the alleys and sidewalks. The neighborhood distinguishes the sea town from other neighborhoods.

The town of Darya was handed over to the personnel of this navy in 1984 by the Housing Cooperative of the Navy, and for this reason it has been named the town of Darya.

Observance of the principles of urban planning, uniformity, homogeneity, the existence of appropriate cultural, sports and educational facilities has made this neighborhood one of the most developed neighborhoods in this region.

Tehransar and Shahrak Darya were changed from District 9 to District 21 in 2004. This has been to the benefit of the residents because in the past, except for Tehransar, many parts such as Azadi were part of District 9 of Tehran.

محله شهرک دریا در جنوب منطقه ی 21 شهرداری تهران قرار دارد . این شهرک از شمال به بلوار یاس می رسد و از آنجا با محله تهرانسر غربی همسایه است . این محله از جنوب به بزرگراه فتح (جاده قدیم کرج) می رسد .

در شرق خیابان مروارید، شهرک دریا را از محله ی تهرانسر جدا می کند و در غرب بزرگراه آزادگان ( کمربندی) در حد فاصل شهرک دریا با محله شهرک استقلال دکتر عبیدی قرار گرفته است.

وجود مرکز راهنمایی و رانندگی در این محله در کنار رعایت اسلوب شهرسازی در این شهرک که نمود عینی آن در خیابان بندی و نحوه تفکیک واحدها، عرض کوچه هاو پیاده روهامشخص است . محله شهرک دریا را از سایر محلات متمایز می کند .

شهرک دریا در سال 1363 توسط تعاونی مسکن کارکنان نیروی دریایی به صورت زمین به پرسنل این نیروی واگذار گردید و به همین دلیل نام شهرک دریا بر آن گذاشته شده است .

رعایت اصول شهرسازی ، یکدست بودن ، همگن بودن ، وجود امکانات مناسب فرهنگی ، ورزشی و آموزشی این محله را به یکی از توسعه یافته ترین محلات این منطقه تبدیل نموده است.

تهرانسر وشهرک دریا سال 1383 از منطقه 9 به منطقه 21 تغییر یافت.این امر به نفع اهالی شده است چون سابق،جز تهرانسر قسمتهای زیادی مانند آزادی، جزء منطقه 9تهران بودند.
