Boatman and Scholar…!

Once a scholar came to a boatman and asked him to row him across the river. His journey was long and slow, so the scholar decided to talk to the boatman.
Scholar asked: “Have you ever studied Mathematics, Grammar, Physics, etc, …?”
Boatman replied: “ No, those things are of no use to me.”
Scholar said: “Too bad, you have wasted half of your life and you don’t know these rules.”
After some time, the boat crashed into the rock in the middle of the river.
Boatman turned to scholar and said: “Sir, pardon my humble mind, you seem to be a wise man, tell me have you ever learned to swim?”
